What You'll Be Doing

The role will be providing a full range of perfusion services for cardiothoracic surgery, peritonectomy surgery with HIPEC and other disciplines as required. It will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in conjunction with Cardiothoracic Surgery team, Peritonectomy team, Anaesthesia, Cardiology, ICU and Emergency Departments as well as other disciplines as required.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
n addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Cardiopulmonary bypass, awareness of current changes in cardiopulmonary bypass.
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent.
- Certificate in Perfusion from the Australasian Board of Cardiovascular perfusion or equivalent, experience in auto transfusion techniques
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills both written and verbal, with advanced computer skills and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft office products
- Ability to be part of the roster to meet service needs
- Demonstrated ability to lead and be part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in managing the maintenance schedule for the equipment used for cardiopulmonary bypass and all associated Perfusion treatment/management modalities, keeping accurate records on all equipment as per servicing and infection control guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of perfusion, IABP, cell saver, and ECMO set up, trouble shooting and associated education of staff required to care for patients undergoing these modalities to maintain patient safety and quality outcomes.
