What is Cruisin' for Perfusion?
The Cruisin' for Perfusion 5k Walk/Run (formerly known as the Heart Walk) is a nationwide event hosted to help perfusion students raise funds to sponsor their attendance for the annual AmSECT International Conference, hosted in San Diego, California this year. Everyone is welcome to participate — not just students!
This year we are introducing an extra layer of camaraderie and excitement to our shared journey — a friendly competition to see who records the longest walk in each of the following categories: CCP, first year student, and second year student. The top achiever in each category will be awarded with a custom-designed scrub cap (winners will get to choose whether they want option 1 or option 2).
How to Participate
Get ready to lace up your sneakers!
Record Your Data
Complete your 5k walk/run anytime on October 6, 2024 & share your experience on social media using the tag #CruisinForPerfusion. Recording your progress is not necessary unless you want to additionally participate in our competition.
For those interested in entering to win a customized scrub cap, all you have to do is record your walk/run by 7:00pm EST on October 6, 2024 using the Strava app and email your results to Ian Villavicencio at villavic@musc.edu (failure to send results will result in non-entry).
Location
There is no designated location for this event. Participants are encouraged to complete their 5k walk/run wherever they prefer—whether it’s in their neighborhood, a local park, or on a favorite trail.
