What is the Leadership Symposium?

The Leadership Symposium program is geared toward perfusionists who are current or aspiring leaders, including those currently in management positions who desire to improve their leadership potential. The program consists of four Virtual Workshops and a one-day, in-person symposium held at the AmSECT International Conference. The AmSECT Leadership Task Force reviews applications, and attendees are selected based on their qualifications, experience, and personal statement. Once accepted into the program, participants are paired with a mentor who will meet with them monthly throughout the duration of the program. Additionally, participants are assigned several articles and books to read in preparation for each workshop. This program allows participants to gain confidence as a leader, develop lasting connections, navigate real-life situations in a safe space, and receive advice from trusted leaders in perfusion.

 

 

Application Process

The application period for the 2025 Leadership Symposium is August 5 - September 30, 2024. All applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by October 31. Applicants must submit a current resume/CV, letter of recommendation, and personal statement of interest. Upon acceptance into the Leadership Symposium, participants are required to pay a $750 registration fee. After completing the program, participants will be reimbursed for pre-work program materials.

Schedule

All attendees will be required to participate in the monthly virtual workshops and the one-day in-person symposium. The workshops are held virtually from 7:00pm - 9:00pm ET. The in-person Symposium will be an all day event held in conjunction with the AmSECT International Conference. Please note that participation is required for all of the dates below. Attendees must be able to physically attend the in-person day in San Diego - no virtual option will be provided.
