Description
Northern Kentucky University’s (NKU) School of Allied Health, within the College of Health & Human Services, is seeking a fulltime faculty member to teach in the Master of Science Cardiovascular Perfusion program. NKU, a growing metropolitan university located 7 miles from Cincinnati, is a university known to its faculty and students for its commitment to student success and one that strives to empower diverse learners for economic and social mobility.
The ideal candidate for this position will be either a perfusionist with teaching experience and the ability to teach across the perfusion curriculum, or someone with a strong science and research background able to teach supplemental courses such as anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, research methods, and also oversee research capstone projects.
This position will require aspects of service and commitment not only to the program, but also to the College of Health & Human Services and the university, by serving on various committees when needed.
This is a non-tenure track renewable faculty position at the rank of assistant teaching professor, with 9-month or 12-month status to be determined.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach face-to-face courses in the program, as assigned; a limited number of courses may be online, but face-to-face teaching is required
- Participate in student recruitment, selection, guidance, instruction, and evaluation.
- Support the program director in accomplishing the outcomes of the program related to planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program.
- Work with the program director in course development.
- Participate in the community advisory committee for the program and various other committees as needed
- Provide direction and guidance for advancing the University’s strategic priorities of inclusive excellence and student retention and graduation
- Participate in various committee and service activities across multiple levels, including program, school, college and university.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education at the time the degree was conferred in perfusion or related sciences such as biology, anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, exercise physiology, or kinesiology; doctorate degree preferred
- At least two (2) years of experience as an instructor in an accredited perfusion program or in relevant science courses with experience and knowledge in pedagogical or instructional methodology, and experience in research and course development
- For perfusionist only: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience as a perfusionist in addition to 2 years of pedagogical methods
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and belonging
