China’s strict and interrelated clinical and social protocols played a key role in its dealing with the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. While many now are looking to colleagues for lessons as the novel coronavirus spreads globally, unanswered questions remain regarding long-term side effects, prospects for organ or tissue damage, identification of prognostic biomarkers, and development of therapeutics.
