Position Title: Cardiovascular Perfusionist
Location: Orlando, FL
Description:
Under the supervision of a physician member of the medical staff, Clinical Perfusionist will operate the heart-lung machine in order to maintain the circulation and other organ functions preoperatively for the supervising medical staff member's patients that require cardiopulmonary bypass during surgical procedures. The Clinical Perfusionist will monitor the supervising medical staff member's patient's hemodynamic and physiologic status preoperatively and administer blood, blood products, and any pharmacological support required to maintain appropriate hemodynamic and physiologic state. The Clinical Perfusionist is expected to adhere to applicable PACF procedures and the PACF commitment to excellent standards.
Essential functions:
Set up and operation of the heart-lung machine for surgical procedures that require cardiopulmonary bypass according to protocols prescribed by the supervising physician member of the medical staff. Notifies supervising medical staff member about unusual or unexpected events or problems related to the above procedure. Clean external surfaces of equipment as required.

- 200+ cases/year/perfusionist
Permitted Tasks:
- Assists in the transport of patients requiring cardiopulmonary support.
- Evaluates new perfusion equipment as needed.
- May participate in the development and conduct in research projects including publication.
- Provides in-service and instruction to non-perfusion personnel as needed.
- May provide clinical instruction of students from affiliated perfusion schools.
- Orders and stocks supplies as needed.
Education/Experience/Training
Successful completion of a certified cardiovascular perfusion training program or Certification will be accepted in lieu of a cardiovascular training program.
Required previous experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate successful performance of 40 clinical perfusions in the past 12 months. Safety courses may be required for specialized techniques.
Certification
Current certification with the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or be board eligible. Maintain current CPR certification.
