Position Overview: Comprehensive Care Services is looking for a Director of Perfusion in the Dallas, TX area. The Director of Perfusion is responsible for overseeing the Perfusion Department 24 hours a day, ensuring that all operations meet established quality standards and protocols. This role involves providing physiological management of patients’ circulatory and respiratory functions during and following cardiac surgery, including open heart procedures, autotransfusion, and mechanical circulatory support, under the supervision of the anesthesiologist and operating surgeon. The Director ensures the department responds efficiently to surgical requests, maintains smooth coordination with other hospital units, and supports overall patient care quality.

Key Responsibilities: The Director of Perfusion manages all operations of the Perfusion Department, ensuring safe, high-quality care during cardiac surgeries. They operate heart-lung machines, monitor patient condition, and provide circulatory and respiratory support, including autotransfusion and mechanical assist devices. The role coordinates with hospital departments, maintains accurate procedural records, and updates quality assurance databases. Administrative duties include staffing, performance management, inventory control, and responding to physician or hospital concerns. They also oversee staff education, protocol updates, equipment maintenance, quality improvement initiatives, and support business development and new product evaluations.

Requirements
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited perfusion program, with 3–6 years of perfusion experience, demonstrating skill in both clinical procedures and departmental leadership. A strong commitment to continued education and professional development is expected. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members. The candidate must hold current certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and maintain any required state perfusion licensure.
