The ECMO Specialist participates in the ECMO Training Program, developing skills to safely establish and manage extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in critically ill patients of all ages. Responsibilities include device troubleshooting, monitoring clinical parameters, adjusting ECLS support, administering blood products and medications, managing airways and ventilators, and performing Respiratory Therapist II duties.
Schedule: 36 hours/week, rotating days/nights, every third weekend.
$20,000 sign-on bonus eligible.
Requirements
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum one year as a Boston Children’s Hospital Respiratory Therapist eligible for promotion to RT II, or one year of external ECMO experience.
- Licensure/Certifications: Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license required. Must hold Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care. Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential must be obtained within six months of entering the role.
