Description
- Deliver life-saving direct patient care as an ECMO Specialist, operating extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for critically ill children and pediatric patients
- Monitor ECMO pump function, circuit integrity, and patient response to ensure safe, continuous extracorporeal life support therapy
- Assess anticoagulation, electrolytes, acid-base balance, and blood gas values, adjusting ECMO therapy to maintain optimal pediatric patient outcomes
- Administer blood products, medications, and fluid volumes during ECMO therapy while maintaining accurate clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support pediatric care coordination, patient safety, quality improvement, and onboarding of new ECMO Specialist team members.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Department of State Health Services obtained prior to hire date
- Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date
- Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency AND Associate's degree/Technical degree OR higher.
Preferred:
- Previous Pediatric ECMO Specialist experience strongly preferred.
