Description

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a full-time Perfusionist to join a collaborative team of five. This salaried role features equitable two-person call coverage and an N+1 staffing model. The team supports five cardiothoracic surgeons and seven cardiac anesthesiologists, managing roughly 275 open-heart cases annually, including heart/ lung & liver transplants as well as VADs. Perfusion works closely with ECMO and MCS teams, averaging 35 ECMO runs and 10 device implants per year, plus ~ 130 non-cardiac autologous blood recovery procedures. The department is highly respected and maintains strong collaboration with surgery, anesthesia, cardiology, and intensive care teams. Beyond clinical duties, the team engages in quality improvement projects, contributes to the PediPERForm registry, teaches perfusion students, participates in professional societies and academic conferences both serving on committees and in giving presentations, as well as supporting continuing education and participating in research.

Requirements

• Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant science field and completion of a CAHEP-accredited perfusion training program
• Preferred: Master's degree
• Required: Must be certification eligible and actively pursuing American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) certification; must attain ABCP certification within the first year of employment and maintain ABCP certification.
• Preferred: Pediatric perfusion; ECMO, mechanical circulatory support (MCS), and ventricular assist device (VAD) experience
