AmSECT Student Council Accomplishments

AmSECT is proud of the accomplishments of all the members of the Student Council.

These students worked diligently to accomplish many milestones in their respective roles and committees. With strong participation and overall student council growth a lot was able to be accomplished! Here are just a few of the highlights:

2024-2025

Perfusion Bowl 2025: Our 2025 Perfusion Bowl had a record-setting 5 programs be represented on stage at the International Conference in San Diego. This year was also the 1st year the Perfusion Bowl was a sponsored event. A big thank you to SpecialtyCare for sponsoring the event and awarding our winners, Team Rush, with a monetary prize and free registration to the conference!
Student Social 2025: The 2025 Student Council was very grateful to hold a sponsored event at the International Conference in San Diego. Perfusion student across the country were able to come together and meet their future colleagues. A special thank you to Keystone Perfusion Services for sponsoring the event!
Creation of the student ambassador program, 2024: This initiative aimed to have representation from each perfusion school in the country. Students from different programs were designated as the Program Ambassador and assisted in spreading student council-related information to their respective programs.

Scrub Cap Fundraiser, 2024: 1st ever Scrub Cap Fundraiser held by the student council. Our scrub caps were originally designed by students in the student council, creating amazing designs that showed everyday perfusion equipment such as clamps, roller heads, and centrifugal heads!
Heart Walk Rebrand - "Cruisin for Perfusion": Formerly known as the “Heart Walk,” this year’s student council decided to rebrand our annual fundraiser and name it “Cruisin’ for Perfusion.” This fundraiser also included our first ever friendly competition, awarding the 1st-year student, 2nd-year student, and CCP who walked/ran the most miles on the day of our fundraiser!

2023-2024

Launch of the Pre-Perfusion Committee: With more and more prospective perfusion students, this committee aims to create a space to answer all of their pre-perfusion questions. With a web page in the works, we are excited to see what the future holds for this task force!
Heart Walk 2023: As a part of an AmSECT Student Council fundraising effort, perfusion students, as well as some perfusionists, from across the country participated in a 3-mile walk in their respective cities. Through their great work, the student council was able to raise $2365, all of which sponsored student attendance at the AmSECT 62nd International Conference in New Orleans, LA.
